The impressive group of over 100 attendees reflected how much of an impact he had during his time at Virginia Polo. The alumni gathered were made up of people from many different generations, ones he’d coached and ones who’d worked with him through their roles on the Virginia Polo Board of Directors. As a special touch alum Parker Pearce made meat on the asado grill to go along with the catered dinner.

As past chair Nancy Schlichting said during her presentation, Lou had a major impact on women’s polo and helped expand the sport. In a touching speech past player Jack McLean highlighted Lou’s leadership running the Virginia Polo program, the clinics he started in 2012, and the impact he had on Jack’s life through high school and college polo. Jack cited “Lou’s tireless dedication to the club” as a pivotal piece to his 2022 team’s success because it enabled the team to practice three times a week and ride often.
